Accessibility

James Madison University is committed to providing equal access to its programs and facilities for people with disabilities.

Handicapped

All Forbes Center venues are wheelchair accessible and have elevator access. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located on upper and lower lobby levels of the facility.

Wheelchair and Companion Seating — Specific wheelchair and companion seating locations have been designated in the performance venues. For venues with reserved seating (Mainstage Theatre, Concert Hall, Recital Hall), these locations are indicated on the online seating maps with the International Symbol of Access. For venues with general admission seating (Earlynn J. Miller Dance Theatre, Studio Theatre), patrons may purchase any seat and will be seated in special locations upon arrival. Please inform the House Manager of any special needs that you may have. Wheelchair and companion seating can also be purchased in person at the box office or by calling (540) 568-7000 during regular business hours in advance of the performance date.

Transfer Seats — Transfer seats are available for those patrons needing extra assistance getting into a fixed seat. The arm swings open so patrons can slide into the fixed seat. Transfer seats may be used to accommodate patrons with special physical requirements. Patrons who wish to sit in a transfer seat should contact our box office at (540) 568-7000 in advance of their performance to receive more detailed information. These seats are not marked on the online seating maps and are subject to availability.

Policy on Dogs and Service Animals — The only animals allowed in the performance venues are guide dogs and service animals. A service animal is defined as any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. Please inform your ticket sales representative at (540) 568-7000 of any seating accommodations in advance. As per fire code regulations, the Forbes Center reserves the right to reseat any patron with a service animal or guide dog to a designated accessible location.

Early Admittance — Patrons requiring extra time to get to their designated seat may be granted early admission to the theatre with permission from the Stage Manager.
