"The versatile dancers are exquisite."

The Washington Post

Ballet Hispánico, America’s leading Latino dance organization, has been bringing individuals and communities together to celebrate and explore Latino cultures through dance for 50 years. The company has performed for three million people worldwide and is known for highlighting the richness of the Latino culture through a fusion of classical, Latin and contemporary dance, all powered by theatricality, athleticism and passion. Ballet Hispánico was founded by National Medal of Arts recipient Tina Ramirez to give voice to the Hispanic experience and break through stereotypes. It is now led by acclaimed choreographer and former company member Eduardo Vilaro, whose bold and compassionate programming reflects our changing social and cultural landscape. While at JMU for an eight-day residency, Ballet Hispánico will set a dance work from their repertory for JMU dance students, which they will present as part of this much-anticipated performance.  www.ballethispanico.org

This engagement of Ballet Hispanico is made possible through the ArtsCONNECT program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
