Prepare to be uplifted and transformed by the critically-acclaimed American Spiritual Ensemble featuring some of the finest singers in the classical music world. Founded by Everett McCorvey in 1995, ASE aims to keep the American Negro Spiritual alive by performing renditions of classic spirituals, jazz and Broadway favorites that highlight the black experience. “The ensemble produces a sound of such sumptuous power, energy and commitment that one is hard put to find words worthy of the effect they make on an audience.” (Sarasota Herald-Tribune) Its members have sung in theatres and opera houses around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and abroad in England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Scotland and Spain. The Madison Singers will sing a few select numbers with ASE in this concert, which also features JMU music alumnus Kyle Yampiro ('12, '16) as part of the ASE.  www.americanspiritualensemble.com
