JMU’s premier dance ensemble will perform contemporary choreography by nationally- and internationally-recognized guest artists including JMU alumnae Emily Cargill from North Carolina and Jess Burgess, a former member of Virginia Rep. Burgess is the artistic/executive director of Dogtown Dance Theatre in Richmond and co-artistic director and founder of the award-winning RVA Dance Collective. The company will also present pieces by Virginia movement artist Emily Wright, Philadelphia choreographer Stephanie Liapis and Costa Rican action theatre deviser Heather Lundy. Rounding out the performance will be dances by the ensemble’s artistic directors Ryan Corriston and Shane O’Hara, and other JMU dance faculty members.
