DUKE HALL GALLERY OF FINE ART - DUKE HALL

Seating: Reserved

This group exhibition will feature artwork that skirts the fine line between fine art and design, including that of Tanya Aguiñiga (b. 1978), a Los Angeles-based artist, designer and craftsperson. Influenced by her upbringing in Tijuana, Mexico, Aguiñiga’s work uses craft as a vehicle for community empowerment by generating conversations about identity, culture and gender. Her design studio produces “stunning contemporary furniture that evokes emotions through color, shape, and texture.” (TAC: Magazine of Textile Arts Center) Curated by Keenan Rowe, digital design and fabrication manager in JMU’s School of Art, Design and Art History, this exhibition is made possible, in part, by the CVPA Cultural Connections Artist-in-Residence program.

Reception: September 9, 5-7 pm
