RECITAL HALL

Join us for a Schubertiade to celebrate the birthday of Austrian composer Franz Schubert! Schubert (1797-1828) is considered among the greatest composers of the early 19th century, best known for his leider or German art songs for voice and piano. Michael McMahon, one of Canada’s foremost accompanists and an illustrious musician of the Lied repertoire, will join forces with JMU’s esteemed vocal faculty and students for a performance that will honor the musical genius of Schubert and his astonishing contributions to the classical music canon. McMahon has performed frequently with singers throughout Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States, and is a resident artist at the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria.
