This year’s festival features the music of Libby Larsen, one of America’s most performed living composers. Based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Larsen is a Grammy Award winner who is constantly sought after for commissions and recordings by major artists, ensembles and orchestras around the world, including The King’s Singers, Benita Valente, and Frederica von Stade. “Assembling one of the most impressive bodies of music of our time,” (USA Today) Larsen has created over 500 works ranging from intimate vocal and chamber music to massive orchestral pieces to numerous operas. Her music has been praised for its “clear textures, easily absorbed rhythms and appealing melodic contours.” (The Philadelphia Inquirer) JMU faculty, ensembles and students will present Larsen’s music as well as the music of American composer Joseph Klein and other living composers in three main concerts during the festival.

Concert I: Monday, October 22 @ 8 pm - features The Madison Singers, JMU Chorale, and JMU Percussion Ensemble
Concert II: Tuesday, October 23 @ 8 pm - features the JMU Symphony Orchestra
Concert III: Wednesday, October 24 @ 8 pm - features the JMU Brass Band and JMU Symphonic Band
