Archie Rand assembles a momentous 613-panel installation, whose completion took over five years of studio work, to form his largest non-mural work ever. The 613, a serial painting inspired by the 613 Jewish commandments in the Hebrew Bible, come together to form a startling visual narrative, mysteriously addressing the deepest ritual systems of tradition. Rand’s historical and contemporary influences merge to inform an unanticipated relationship between inviolate scripture and illustration, pop, comic, graphic and filmic imageries.
