“…stellar instrumentals… keenly supported by strong harmonies.”

Country Standard Time

Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, The Steel Wheels possesses a musical style that weaves through Americana and bluegrass, folk and old-time music, and the acoustic poetry of the finest singer-songwriters. Trent Wagler (guitar, banjo), Eric Brubaker (fiddle), Brian Dickel (upright bass) and Jay Lapp (mandolin) first started playing together in 2004. Six years later, they official branded themselves “The Steel Wheels,” a tip of the hat to steam-powered trains, industrial progress and the buggies of their Mennonite lineage. The name that evokes a sense of forward motion is reflected in The Steel Wheel’s latest album, Wild As We Came Here. By incorporating percussion and keyboards into its recording sessions for the first time, the group adds new textures to its compositions, as themes of discovery and perseverance run throughout the collection.  www.thesteelwheels.com
